Dr. Carolyne Keenan


Carolyne completed her Doctorate at London City University. She is a Registered Psychologist with the HCPC and a member of the British Psychological Society.

Carolyne completed her undergraduate studies at Cardiff University in 2006 and then moved to Manchester where she worked for the NHS as a Substance Misuse Practitioner.  She then moved to London to start the Doctorate course and has been working with adolescents as a Senior Residential Social Worker in West Sussex whilst training as a Psychologist.

Carolyne has worked in a range of settings including inpatient, forensic and charity organisations ensuring that she has a breadth of experience and is able to work with her clients to devise a care plan drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities.  Her work is evidence-based and grounded in current research.  She currently works in an NHS inpatient unit in Reigate specialising in enduring and severe mental health complications and is continuing her work with adolescents in West Sussex.

Carolyne’s Doctoral research explored Experiences of self-harm and the way that they are discussed on YouTube videos.  The findings offered suggestions on the ways Psychologists can best support people who self-harm and those who care for them.

Carolyne is committed to valuing individuality and offers an open, compassionate approach with the view to empowering her clients and motivating them towards achieving their goals.  She has worked with Altum Health since the second year of her training and continues to develop her knowledge and skills through supervision and training.
