Dr. Joanna Myers

Jo is Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). She is member of the BPS division of Clinical Psychology.

Following her psychology degree from Bristol University in 1991, she pursued her Doctoral training at the University of East London.  She did her final year’s training at the Tavistock Centre in London, and qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 1997.

Jo began her NHS work at the Royal Free Hospital, working for many years in a general adult mental health team.  It was here that she gained invaluable experience working with a variety of mental difficulties including anxiety, depression, self-harm, eating disorders and psychosis. In 2002, she joined the Royal Free’s world renowned eating disorders team, and has experience working with individuals and running groups with outpatients, day patients and inpatients.

Jo’s therapeutic approach is integrative in nature as she brings her wealth of training and continued professional development to her work. While she is well versed in both traditional CBT and third wave therapies, she strongly believes in working systemically, as she feels this approach offers people a powerful way to move away from self-limiting beliefs.
