Caroline is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist who is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She is also an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a member of the BPS Division of Counselling Psychology.

Caroline spent her early childhood in England before moving to Singapore to complete her secondary education at the United World College of South East Asia. She returned to the UK for her tertiary education, completing her BSc in Psychology at Bristol University. She continued with her MA in Developmental Child Psychology at the University of Nottingham after which she worked with children on the Autism Spectrum for a number of years. She then completed her Doctorate in Psychotherapeutic and Counselling Psychology at Surrey University in 2005. Caroline’s doctoral research focused on understanding how to support individuals most effectively in their recovery from eating disorders. Since this time, she has continued developing therapeutic interventions that can support this process. After working for three years post-qualification in a busy Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), she began and continues to work in a busy London NHS eating disorders team. In her role, she has been fortunate to both develop evidence-based interventions, whilst also working closely with clients toward their own goals, ensuring that these remain at the centre of the therapeutic work. As such, while being significantly informed by current research and therapeutic modalities, she is integrative in her approach to clinical interventions and, whilst she enjoys working within a Cognitive Behavioural approach, she works much more according to process and so from within the therapeutic relationship.

Caroline has worked across eating disorder presentations, both individually and in groups. Although her NHS role has been predominantly within the eating disorders field over the past 11 years, her experience has also worked extensively in general mental health, supporting clients with a variety of difficulties including identity process, self-esteem, managing perfectionism, anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties, obsessive-compulsive disorder, emotion regulation and a broad range of mental health difficulties. She believes that building on individual strength and resilience is particularly important within the therapeutic process. Caroline combines evidence-based techniques in a creative manner to support clients in meeting their goals, whilst her direct and honest manner is appreciated by her clients and colleagues.
