DR. CAROLYNE KEENAN
Carolyne will work with you to develop a care plan that best suits your style of communication, learning and current needs. She is committed to valuing individuality and offers an open, compassionate approach with the view to empowering her clients and motivating them towards achieving their goals. Her training as a Counselling Psychologist allows her to think creatively about the best approach for you. She will help you to explore the potential causes of the struggles you are having and think about how you can move forward and thrive despite obstacles and difficulties.
Carolyne completed her Doctorate at London City University, her doctoral research explored Experiences of self-harm and the way that they are discussed on YouTube videos. The findings offered suggestions on the ways Psychologists can best support people who self-harm and those who care for them.
Before moving into full time independent practice Carolyne focussed on working in a range of settings. These included inpatient, forensic and charity organisations to ensure that she has a breadth of experience, so that she is able to work with her clients to devise a care plan drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities. Her work is evidence-based and grounded in current research. She is committed to ongoing professional development and receives regular clinical supervision alongside attending conferences and training events.
As well as her clinical work Carolyne has made contributions to media articles and projects, spoken on BBC radio and offered consultation to directors and documentary makers. She undertakes occasional medico-legal work and offers supervision to trainee and qualified Psychologists.
