Jacqui is a Registered Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HPC) and is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS). Well trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, she has an affinity for mindfulness and compassion based work. Moreover, she has completed training in systemic therapy at the Institute of Family Therapy and undertaken additional training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy (levels I, II and III) with Sandi Richmann.
Jacqui has a broad range of clinical experience working with anxiety, depression, body dysmorphic disorder, work related stress, relationship issues, bereavement, low self-esteem, trauma and adjustment to chronic illness. Her special interest in eating disorders and body image problems began at university and one of her flatmates developed anorexia. She observed firsthand the devastating impact this illness had on her friend’s life, and became inspired to learn more about helping sufferers and their families. She pursued this through working for several years in a specialist NHS Eating Disorders Unit in London.
Jacqui offers a warm, compassionate and integrative approach. She uses her clinical skills in private practice to help clients with eating issues to develop a more relaxed and accepting approach to food, their bodies and themselves as individuals.
Jacqui’s path to helping others has taken many turns throughout her career. She studied Psychology at Aberdeen University, but chose to gain some life experience before she trained as a Psychologist. She initially completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Counselling and continues to help clients develop their careers and maximise their strengths.
She built on her experience in career development and worked for over ten years in human resource management for both public and private organisations. She observed the psychological impact of difficult work relationships on employee well-being and decided to continue her training as a Psychologist. She graduated from the MSc & Post-MSc Diploma (doctorate level) in Counselling Psychology at City University in 2006, and now brings her wealth of professional and life experiences to the field of psychological treatment.
Jacqui’s commitment to mind-body wellness is reflected through her personal practice of mindfulness, yoga, and meditation. She has practiced vinyasa flow yoga for over 15 years and uses this, along with a regular meditation practice, to continue learning about her own body and its connection to her thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
