Dr Jackie (Iakovina) Koutoufa
Highly Specialist Psychologist
Iakovina is a chartered clinical psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). In addition to her work with Altum Health, Iakovina also works in the NHS in a neurodevelopmental disorders team for children and young people. Iakovina’s approach is integrative and informed by a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches. She is an accredited Cognitive-Behavioural Therapist (CBT), and draws on a range of approaches such as systemic and narrative therapies, compassion-focused therapy (CFT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Whilst led by the evidence-base, her guiding principle is the development of an authentic, trustworthy, and compassionate relationship. Iakovina strongly believes in people’s resilience and ability to overcome their difficulties through the exploration of their unique strengths and abilities in a safe and containing therapeutic space.

Iakovina grew up in Athens, Greece. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her master’s degree in Psychoanalytic Developmental Psychology at University College London (UCL). Iakovina began her career in the NHS, working as an assistant psychologist at the Tavistock Adult Depression Study at the Tavistock clinic and the Royal Free Hospital with children and young people with eating disorders. At the same time, Iakovina worked as a research assistant at UCL investigating childhood maltreatment. These experiences scaffolded Iakovina’s interest in working with children and young people. Iakovina completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway University of London (RHUL), where her clinical placements allowed her to develop further her skills in a variety of settings and therapeutic approaches.
Since beginning work in the NHS in 2012, Iakovina has worked with a variety of difficulties in adult and child mental health, learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders, psychosis, and eating disorders amongst others. In addition to her clinical work, she is also passionate about psychological research. Iakovina is currently in the process of preparing publications on treating adults with bulimia nervosa.
Iakovina can offer therapy both in English and Greek.
